The golden era of solar in Pakistan just ended. On February 9th, 2026, NEPRA rolled out the NEPRA (Prosumer) Regulations, 2026, effectively abolishing the decade-old net metering system .
If you are a solar user—or planning to become one—you are now facing a two-tier tariff system. You will sell electricity to the grid for as low as Rs 11/unit, but buy it back at Rs 50+/unit .
The Grid is no longer your battery. You need a real one.
At Amsefence, we are seeing a massive rush in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. Homeowners are securing themselves with Lithium-ion storage before the full weight of the new policy hits their wallets.
The government is calling it “Net Billing.” Consumers are calling it a burden shift .
The Old Way (Net Metering – RIP 2015-2026):
You sent 100 units to the grid. You got credit for 100 units. You effectively used the grid as a free battery. Your bill: Zero .
The New Way (Net Billing – 2026):
You Sell: At the National Average Power Purchase Price. Currently proposed at Rs 11/unit .
You Buy: At the Retail Tariff. Currently up to Rs 50-60/unit.
The Result: If you export 100 units at noon and import 100 units at night, you don’t zero out. You owe Rs 3,900 (5000 – 1100). This is the new reality.

There is massive confusion right now. The Prime Minister has directed a “review,” but the regulations are live .
The Reality Check:
Existing Prosumers: You are currently “protected” until your 5-7 year contract ends. However, NEPRA has retained the power to revise purchase rates during your agreement . Do not rely on political backtracking. Rely on hardware.
New Prosumers: You will immediately be placed under the Rs 11/unit buyback regime .
The Verdict: Whether you are grandfathered in or a new user, your export income is dying. The only way to win is to stop exporting. Store your energy.
With export tariffs crashing, solar is no longer a “sell-to-grid” business. It is a “self-consumption” game.
If you generate 20kW during the day and use 5kW, you have two options:
Sell the 15kW to DISCO: Earn Rs 165 (at Rs 11/unit).
Store the 15kW: Use it at night. Avoid buying from DISCO at Rs 50/unit. Save Rs 750.
You save 4.5x more money by using batteries than by selling to the grid.
This is why Amsefence has invested heavily in stock.

We are not talking about future deliveries. We have stock on the ground. We understand the urgency. Every day without storage is money lost to the grid.
We offer Low Voltage and High Voltage configurations to match any inverter system.
Our Premium Lithium-Ion Range:
Pylontech: The global standard for reliability and cycle life.
Dyness: Compact design, high energy density—perfect for urban homes.
Narada: Industrial-grade durability.
Goodwe: Integrated inverter + battery solutions.
Genix Green: 5kW, 10kW, 14.3kW capacity.

The lithium battery market in Pakistan is flooded with grey imports and “shop-closing” warranties. When you invest in a 10-year asset, you need to know the seller will exist in 10 years .
We offer the Warranty You Can Bank On:
Authorized Supply Chains: Genuine Pylontech, Dyness, Narada, Goodwe, and Genix Green.
Immediate Dispatch: Same-day delivery in Lahore, next-day air to Karachi and Islamabad.
Technical Sizing: We don’t just sell; we calculate your exact backup hours.

Under net billing, you want to minimize your grid import to ZERO during non-solar hours.
| System Size | Day Consumption | Night Consumption | Recommended Battery | Backup Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5kW System | 2-3 Units | 2-3 Units | Genix Green 5kW / Pylontech LV | 4-6 Hours |
| 10kW System | 4-5 Units | 5-6 Units | Dyness 10kW / Goodwe 10kW | 5-7 Hours |
| 15kW+ System | 8+ Units | 10+ Units | Genix Green 14.3kW / Narada HV | 8-10 Hours |
Q1: Is net metering completely banned now?
A: Yes. The NEPRA (Prosumer) Regulations 2026 have repealed the 2015 Net Metering Regulations. All new connections will be under Net Billing. Existing connections will migrate upon contract expiry .
Q2: What is the buyback rate for solar export?
A: For new consumers, it is proposed to be set at the National Average Power Purchase Price (~Rs 11/unit) . Existing consumers will get the previous rate (~Rs 26/unit) until their contract ends .
Q3: Will Net Billing make solar useless?
A: No. Solar is still profitable if you self-consume. It only becomes useless if you export. Adding a Lithium battery shifts your consumption to night, effectively paying for itself within 2-3 years by avoiding expensive grid tariffs.
Q4: Can I use lithium batteries with my existing inverter?
A: Not all inverters are hybrid. However, at Amsefence, we stock Goodwe and Genix Green battery-ready systems. For existing setups, we can advise on AC-coupled storage solutions.
Q5: Why should I buy from Amsefence?
A: Because we offer Pylontech, Dyness, Narada—brands with proven local service networks. We are not a “reseller”; we are a system integrator with stock in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. Call +923214466685 to verify stock.

The Government of Pakistan has shifted the risk of grid management from the utility to the consumer. Net billing is here to stay. The middle class, which invested in green energy, is now being asked to subsidize the grid .
Adaptation is simple: Stop exporting. Start storing.
